Onward
Director: Dan Scanlon
Actors: Tom Holland, Chris Pratt, Julia Louis-Dreyfus
PlotIn a suburban fantasy world where magic has faded to myth, two elven brothers, Ian and Barley Lightfoot, receive a gift from their late father on Ian's sixteenth birthday: a magical staff, a rare Phoenix gem, and a spell that can bring him back to life for one day. The catch: the spell only half works before the gem breaks, resulting in only their father's legs being conjured. Realizing they have a limited time to complete the spell before their dad disappears forever, the brothers embark on a quest to find another Phoenix gem and experience the father-son bonding they've sorely missed.
Setting off in Barley's van, Guinevere, the siblings' journey is filled with obstacles stemming from the modern, mundane world that has forgotten the old ways of magic. They encounter riddles, dangerous paths, and must tap into their own latent magical abilities. Along the way, they are pursued by their worried mother who has teamed up with a manticore, a once-feared creature turned restaurant owner, to find and protect her sons. The mix of everyday life and lost enchantment tests the brothers' relationship, revealing insecurities and strengths as they discover what they're truly capable of.
