PlotA young psychiatrist, Dr. Martin, arrives at a remote mental institution for a job interview, hoping to secure a position under the tutelage of the enigmatic Dr. Starr. Upon arrival, he learns from the wheelchair-bound Dr. Rutherford, the acting director, that Dr. Starr has suffered a mental breakdown and is now one of the patients. Dr. Rutherford sets Dr. Martin on a challenging task to determine which of the four patients is the former head of the institute. It's a test of Martin's abilities and insight into the human mind. To succeed, he must listen to each patient recount the story of how they came to be institutionalized.
As Dr. Martin speaks with each patient, he is drawn into four eerie and disquieting tales that blur the lines between reality and madness. The first patient presents a macabre story of revenge and murder involving the assembly of a mysterious "patchwork man." The second shares a harrowing tale of a tailored suit that may possess dark powers. The third patient recounts a story about her complex relationship with her brother and a sinister, small robotic-like friend. The final patient tells of a man who has the strange ability to project his spirit beyond his body. As Dr. Martin delves deeper into each story, he must piece together the clues to uncover which of these individuals could be the once-respected, now-fallen Dr. Starr.
