Gavin Stone, a former child star turned party animal, finds himself in trouble with the law and is sentenced to community service at a local church. Initially clueless and reluctant, Gavin pretends to be a devout Christian to land a leading role in the church’s upcoming passion play. As he immerses himself in the role of Jesus, Gavin is surprised by the welcoming nature of the church community and the genuine kindness he encounters from Pastor Allen and his daughter Kelly, who is the play’s director. Through rehearsals and interactions with church members, Gavin begins to understand the values of faith, humility, and forgiveness.
