PlotA decorated Iraq War veteran, Will Gardner, struggles to re-integrate into civilian life after suffering from a traumatic brain injury. Haunted by the brutal memories of battle and grappling with PTSD, Will feels dislocated and isolated. His relationship with his son, estranged wife, and former soldier friends becomes increasingly strained. A continual sense of unprocessed grief over his fallen comrades drives him to the brink of despair. Desiring to find some semblance of peace, Will embarks on a cross-country motorcycle journey with hopes of reconciling his past and finding direction for his future.
As he travels, Will encounters varied individuals who impact his perspective and understanding of what it means to heal. He strikes up unexpected friendships, hears stories that mirror his own struggles, and is exposed to the kindness of strangers who help him confront his inner demons. Throughout the trip, Will is led to reflect deeply on the meaning of brotherhood, purpose, and survival. Each interaction slowly begins to mend parts of his fractured spirit, allowing him to find the inner strength necessary for self-forgiveness and reconciliation with his loved ones.
