PlotA team of scientists led by a renowned environmentalist discovers a prehistoric woolly mammoth in the melting ice of the Arctic. As they begin their research, they realize that the mammoth’s carcass harbors a deadly parasite that has been dormant for thousands of years. The parasite quickly spreads among the researchers, causing gruesome infections and turning the remote research station into a battleground for survival. The environmentalist, along with his estranged daughter and the remaining team members, must find a way to contain the outbreak and warn the outside world before it’s too late.
As the infection spreads, paranoia and fear take hold among the team, and they must navigate not only the hazards of the unforgiving Arctic environment but also their own deteriorating bonds. Isolation, harsh weather conditions, and the ever-present threat of the deadly parasite push the team to the brink, testing their limits and forcing them to confront both their personal demons and the horrifying consequences of their scientific endeavors. With time running out, they are faced with difficult choices that could determine the fate of humanity.

'The Thaw' offers surprising production value and a thought-provoking plot but is hampered by familiar tropes and preachy environmental themes.
