Director: Jee-woon Kim
Actors: Lee Byung-hun, Choi Min-sik, Jeon Gook-hwan
PlotA dedicated and skilled National Intelligence Service (NIS) agent suffers a devastating loss when his fiancée becomes the latest victim of a brutal serial killer. Consumed with grief and a desire for vengeance, the agent takes an unforeseen leave of absence from his duties. With nothing but revenge on his mind, he decides to track down the murderer himself, engaging in a lethal game of cat and mouse. Rather than simply apprehending the psychopathic killer to bring him to justice through the legal system, which he believes is insufficient, the agent aims to make the killer feel the magnitude of pain that his victims endured.
As the agent delves deeper into the killer's twisted world, he begins to employ increasingly unorthodox and savage methods to inflict punishment, setting aside his moral compass. His quest for retribution blurs the lines between good and evil, challenging traditional notions of justice. The once clear-cut roles of hunter and prey become ambiguous as each encounter between the two men escalates in intensity and ferocity. The series of violent exchanges pulls the agent into a dark realm where the cost of vengeance might be his own humanity, as he confronts the unsettling possibility that in his pursuit, he is becoming disturbingly similar to the monster he is chasing.
