The Missing
Director: Ron Howard
Actors: Tommy Lee Jones, Cate Blanchett, Evan Rachel Wood
PlotIn the remote New Mexico Territory in 1885, Maggie Gilkeson is a tough frontier medicine woman raising her two daughters, Lily and Dot. Her life is thrown into turmoil when a vicious brujo, or witch, leads a band of renegade Apache, and together they begin abducting young women for trafficking in Mexico. Maggie's eldest daughter, Lily, is kidnapped during a raid, prompting Maggie to seek out her estranged father, Samuel Jones, who abandoned her as a child to live with native tribes.
Jones returns, hoping to reconcile with his adult daughter, but his arrival is met with resentment and suspicion. However, when Lily is taken, Maggie reluctantly accepts her father's offer to track the kidnappers, recognizing his tracking skills could be their only hope. They set off on a perilous journey, navigating the rugged wilderness while bracing against both natural elements and the constant threat of the renegades on their trail. As they press on, Maggie must not only confront the dangers that lie ahead but also the long-buried emotional wounds inflicted by her father's abandonment.
