PlotAfter losing his job and his wife, and spending time in a mental institution, Pat Solitano ends up living with his parents in Philadelphia. Pat struggles with bipolar disorder and is determined to rebuild his life and reunite with his estranged wife, despite a restraining order she has against him. As he attempts to stay positive, his mantra becomes finding the "silver linings" in his situation. He spends his days jogging and obsessively reading the books his wife teaches in her high school curriculum, believing that his self-improvement will win her back.
Pat’s path crosses with Tiffany, a young widow with her own set of emotional issues and a blunt manner. After Pat loses his therapist because of a fight, Tiffany offers to deliver letters to his wife if he agrees to be her partner in an upcoming dance competition. Hesitant at first, Pat accepts the deal, seeing it as a way to communicate with his wife and continue striving for reconciliation. Pat's father, a superstitious bookmaker with obsessive-compulsive tendencies, is also deeply invested in Pat’s recovery, hoping that his son's rehabilitation will coincide with the success of his football team, which he believes Pat brings luck to. As Pat and Tiffany practice for the dance contest, an unusual bond begins to form between them, providing both with unexpected solace.
