Prospect
Director: Christopher Caldwell, Zeek Earl
Actors: Sophie Thatcher, Jay Duplass, Pedro Pascal
PlotA teenage girl and her father travel to an alien moon, aiming to strike it rich. They're seeking a rare and valuable gem-like substance that grows within the toxic forest floor. As their spaceship descends, the stakes are high, as the trip is intended to be their last such venture on the moon. Rough and hostile, the environment is filled with other greedy and desperate prospectors who can pose just as much, if not more, danger than the moon's natural hazards. The main characters must navigate through both the treacherous terrain and the potentially lethal competitors. With the hope of a big score within reach, the tension between the need for careful extraction and the urgency of their precarious situation increases.
The relationship between the father and daughter is tested by their perilous circumstances, as well as by their encounters with other prospectors, including a manipulative and savvy man they meet. This new figure presents himself as an ally but harbors his own agenda. Working with and around him complicates their mission, driving a wedge of mistrust and posing difficult choices. As they delve deeper into the alien forest, they must balance survival against ambition, and moral choices against the lure of wealth. Their situation spirals into a grueling struggle not only against the planet's dangers, but against the greed and ruthlessness that consumes those around them.
