Plot

Franklin Franklin is a peculiar and reclusive man living in a downtroiled Los Angeles apartment complex filled with an array of quirky and oddball tenants. He marches to the beat of his own drum, often found in his underpants playing an alphorn or listening to strange self-help recordings. His mundane life takes a dark turn when his landlord is found dead, and Franklin is thrust into an unexpected predicament. With no clear plan and a cloud of ineptitude hanging over him, Franklin must navigate the consequences of his actions, all while contending with the intersecting lives of his strange neighbors.

As Franklin scrambles to cover up his involvement with the landlord's demise, the lives of the building's inhabitants interweave, highlighting their own peculiarities and struggles. A nosy neighbor with an eye for conspiracy, a would-be painter escaping a criminal past, and a determined detective are just a few of the colorful characters that populate the complex. Amidst the chaos, Franklin receives cryptic messages from his brother, further complicating his situation. The film paints a tableau of misfits collectively searching for connection and meaning within the confines of their small apartments, leading to a tapestry of human experience that is both touching and absurd.
