Join the Celebration of Home Video's Finest!
Participate in a vibrant live awards show featuring giveaways, trivia, and honoring those who bring home video releases to life.
The best part of this is found in the live awards show that happens on the Sunday following Super Bowl Sunday. The community joins together to watch the live stream where there are giveaways, trivia, and a celebration of this physical media industry that we all love and support. What makes this special, though, is that it is a celebration with the individuals that make home video possible. Owners of labels, archivists, restoration artists, producers, and more join to accept the awards. Special attention is given to those that create contextual supplemental features for these releases.
Honoring a Legacy: The Sergio Mims Memorial Award
Celebrate those making extraordinary contributions in film critique, honoring the legacy of Sergio Mims.
The most emotional moment of the show has been when a contributor is presented with the Sergio Mims Memorial Award. Sergio was a film critic, historian, and helped establish multiple film festivals, including the Black Harvest Film Festival. In his memory, special recognition is given to an individual for extraordinary contributions to film critique, context, and commentary. Past winners include Kier-la Janisse and Samm Deighan. Tune in to the live show to see who will win this year’s honor!
Meet Your Hosts for an Unforgettable Evening
Join Ryan Verrill and Michelle Kisner on The Disc-Connected YouTube channel for a vibrant celebration of 2024's home video releases.
The other important part is our two hosts! This year, the Editor of the Physical Media Advocate and co-owner of Someone’s Favorite Productions, Ryan Verrill - yours truly - will be joined by the absolutely fantastic Michelle Kisner! Michelle is a critic with the Michigan Movie Critics Guild and also frequently writes for The Movie Sleuth. We are excited to share the 2024 show with you and we hope that you will join us live on The Disc-Connected YouTube channel to see the results! Here’s to an excellent 2025 of home video releases!
My name is Ryan Verrill and I am a film fan just like you. My love for film and physical media has been intertwined since I was watching VHS tapes of my parents’ favorite movies. Early on in the COVID-19 pandemic, I decided to start a YouTube channel dedicated to educating others on physical media. I had seen many other channels giving out grossly misleading information and I felt there was a hole in the market that someone willing to speak with integrity and intelligence could fill. Now that it is nearly four years later, my channel has led to me meeting some of my heroes, starting my own production company, publishing a magazine, and contributing to many physical media releases myself.
This desire for accurate information is also what led me to Mighty Chroma. A shared passion for aggregated accurate information about physical media means that Mighty Chroma and I are perfectly fated for each other!
